The focus of the show is to combine the visual elements of the Futro collective in one setting, allowing them to complement each other. Through the use of many styles and forms of media, what could be casually seen as a disjointed collection of art will be viewed as compatible and coherent within the unifying theme of Futro.

Our latest music video for Serious Business’ song, “New Licks” (directed by Chris Diana-Peebles and HAR-1), will be released as part of this party. It will continue to be a presence throughout the month via the Futro Kit 1.0 USB, which will allow patrons to explore the video and other cyber media of Futro. Alex Boyce’s creation “TVthing” will further this interaction as a physical means of altering and playing with the videos. Futro Fantastic will provide a visually stimulating representation of the world of Futro Records.

Futro Spring .12 Updates part 1.0

Ahhhh yes a new season is upon us.. and with that, all sorts of new Futro!!
If you’re new to our realm of party, welcome. If you’ve been a Futrite all this time,, welcome back. We’ve got a lot of magic happening in the next few months,, so let’s unleash some of that fantastic right now!

While DJ Koolaid has been playing countless shows with S. Biz,, he’s also been doing DJ gigs of his own, everywhere from Groove Suite to Whiskey Lounge. He’s also been seen on computer decks doing live streams such as this one. But! If you think that’s all he’s got up his sleeve,, you’re in store for a mega suprise. He’s been secretly hard at work on his debut album..and believe me it’s going to be MEGA! Look for a digital release in the next month or so..

Speaking of Serious Business,, the purveyors of kool have a few things up their briefcases. They have recently begun a new live performance to accompany the story of their debut album Kool. It must be seen to be believed,, and a photo just doesn’t do it justice, but here’s one anyway. Besides doing work with their secretaries, they’ve been working hard on their new music video for New Licks. The project ended up being quite a collab, spearheaded by director Chris DP and co-director by HAR-1, the end crew included Nate Wey, Noelle Sosaya and Yana Galbshtein. It is poised to be released May 1st Thurs. at Upper Playground. More on that soon. They are also working on a new single,, looking to book a short tour,, and are partying professionally.

The newest addition to our family,, Neill Von Tally,, has long been on a quest with his clothing company Skate Lift//Stay Lifted. He has recently returned, and is quickly re-establishing his music’s position in Futro. His first proper release is coming along nicely and should secure placement in our catalogue around July..

KOOL is now

Well it’s been a long time coming but Serious Business’ debut album is finally here!!!!!!!!!!
Recruiting Karl Kling of Remix Artist Collective as their album co-producer, they spent a year recording the album in his home studio in Northeast Portland. The album mashes “jump-up–and-dance” style electro with the unabashed snare rolls of hip-hop. The result is cocky and vibrant. It explores the contrast between their identities as self-proclaimed nerds and an eccentric exaggera-
tion of themselves through hip-hop clichés. Kool is as sarcastic as it is genuine and is ultimately about achieving self-acceptance and confidence. To showcase their regard for collaboration, Kool features several other Futro artists, including Winston Lane, C Bag of Sistafist, and Stacy Peltier of Starlight & Magic.

To accompany the limited pressing of 100 CDs, the album is now available on both the Futro bandcamp and SBiz’s own bandcamp for FREE download.

FR003 is here!! Yum Yum // HAR-1 split single

Following up their singles featured on Futro Kit 1.0,,
HAR-1 and Yum Yum have come together to share in party times!

Yum Yum’s Human Error, could be seen as a heartfelt love song. The initial feeling grows into a sexual telling of the beautiful intensity yet toxicity of human intimacy. For sure this one could pull heart strings, or perhaps compel a desire to get under the covers.

HAR-1′s Trauma Drama is a bit more straight forward. Built upon a nearly 8 bit lead synth, it gradually builds layers while stripping others away. Those into entering the realm of maximum party will surely find that this goal will be reached with limited lasting trauma.

FR002 out now – New Neo G Yo ep!!

We are pleased to announce our second official Futro Records release!
Just On G is Neo G Yo’s first proper release since Tokyo Time. It contains 3 songs that were all written in the same era of Neo’s growth as an mc. Originally these were going to be compiled with new songs to form a longer album. Due to their style, and where Neo is now with his writing, he decided to launch them as a separate project. All of the tracks were produced by Futrite; Winston Lane, who paints lush sparseness with his cybernetic compositions..perfect for the sci-fi/nerd topics Neo explores. The whole album was recorded, mixed and mastered by Karl Kling of RAC. Not limited to just the technical side of the project, Karl also was key to shaping the character of the album, contributing an occasional analog synth and robo vocal effect. More Futro/Karl Kling collaborations will be seen with the upcoming release of Serious Business’ Kool album.
Artwork was done by Futrite; Tre Slim, who also did the art for Futro Kit 1.0.
As a bonus, the ep features a remix of Just Conversation by upcoming producer The Tigers.
